What a wonderful thing to wake up to, this morning. It is January 21st, the day after Dr. Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday(observed).
Because of alternate-side parking in the Madison area, EVERY car on my street was ticketed. Every car that was parked on the street this morning was on the 'wrong' side and every one of them received a citation.(Except the Chevy Citation, they got a ticket...) That is wrong in it's self because there is a city/town government line on my street. My house is the only one in the City, every one else is in the Town.
Alternate side parking was created so that the snow plows and emergency vehicles could, ostensibly, get through when there is snow. It hasn't snowed in a week, and when it did, it was less than an inch and lasted less than 24 hours. It must have been a slow night on the police force because they were by at 1:47 am to place the ticket on my van.(1)

Now, it does say on the ticket that the ordinance that was violated(2) was the 1 am to 7 am alternate side parking . I will be paying the ticket because I am law-abiding, dam. I do have issue with this because there hasn't been need to plow the streets, so why have alternate side parking when there isn't need to plow?
I also have issue with the type of plate(3) that they have my van down as. I am a Mac person, not a PC person... That's a joke son. Laugh.

I could contest the ticket(4), but I have to wait 5 days before I can even call them. With my memory and schedule, will I remember? And then, if I do not pay the ticket within 10 days(5), I get levied more fines and I could have my van towed if I don't pay attention.
Gahh.
End of rant, for now.
